Aparna Duggirala, DPM, FACFAS

Dr. Aparna Duggirala is a leading podiatric physician serving Greenbelt, Prince George’s County (PG County), and the greater Washington, DC metro area. Since 2004, she has provided expert, compassionate foot and ankle care grounded in evidence-based medicine and a warm, patient-first approach. With more than two decades of experience, she is known for her approachable manner, clinical precision, and commitment to long-term foot health.

She earned her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She then completed advanced training in Diabetic Limb Salvage at the distinguished Texas Diabetic Institute at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, followed by her foot and ankle surgical residency at West Houston Hospital through the Harris County Podiatric Surgical Residency Program.

Throughout her career, Dr. Duggirala has demonstrated strong leadership in podiatric medicine. She served as Chief of Podiatry in the Department of Surgery at Doctors Community Hospital (now Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center) from 2010 to 2015. She has held several board positions with the AAWP from 2010 to 2018, in addition to chairing national conferences, lecturing on foot and ankle disorders at the National Conference (APMA). She remains an active member of the APMA and the Maryland Podiatric Medical Association.  She currently serves a second four-year term on the Maryland Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners and previously served as Board President from 2023 to 2025.

Board-certified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery, Dr. Duggirala specializes in Diabetic Limb Salvage, Wound Care, Sports Medicine, Preventive Medicine, and conservative, research-based podiatric care. She treats patients of all ages and is dedicated to helping individuals manage foot pain, improve mobility, and prevent future injury through customized treatment plans tailored to their lifestyle and activity level.

Her care is guided by a three-pillar holistic philosophy proven to support strong outcomes in long-term foot and ankle health:

  1. Lifestyle & Activity Alignment Adjustments in daily habits—such as gait mechanics, standing duration, pacing of activities, and metabolic wellness—have been shown to greatly improve podiatric outcomes. Dr. Duggirala collaborates with each patient to create realistic, individualized strategies that support long-term function and comfort.
  2. Strength & Mobility Foundations Evidence shows that structured strengthening and stretching programs significantly improve balance, reduce pain, and support recovery from common podiatric conditions. Dr. Duggirala emphasizes simple, sustainable routines that build resilient feet and ankles.
  3. Optimized Foot Gear Selection. Proper foot gear is foundational to healthy movement and injury prevention. Dr. Duggirala educates patients on selecting footwear with appropriate midfoot support, heel cushioning, shock absorption, and modern materials that promote comfort and functional alignment. This foot-gear–focused approach plays a major role in reducing strain and enhancing overall foot health.

Approachable, experienced, and deeply committed to patient education, Dr. Duggirala empowers individuals throughout PG County, such as Greenbelt, College Park, Mitchellville, Bowie, as well as the DC metro area, to take an active role in their foot and ankle health.

Outside of her practice, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and traveling with her family.
